Slot cars in cinema: the best racing scenes on the big screen

Our little (but gangly!) slot cars have a special fascination that, as we have seen in other articles, has spawned entire generations of racing fans. This fascination has also been reflected on the silver screen, with several scenes from major movies capturing the excitement and adrenaline of slot car racing even with a short scene. Let's discover together some of these best slot car racing scenes in cinema.

Slot cars in cinema 1: Casino Royale (1967)

This James Bond film may not have been a critical darling. It did, however, present a primal and somewhat unusual slot car racing scene. It is a remarkable film for its anticipatory ability to imagine remote-controlled cars at a time when the concept was relatively unknown.

The mythical Bond with its fantastic cars can't help but make us think of the beauty of our EXCLUSIVE EDITION slot cars!

In the scene in question, Bond is fleeing from an evil woman who is driving a Jaguar. She calls into the villain's lair for assistance, and her support team activates a remote-controlled milk truck to assist in the chase. There in the lair, they have a scaled-down version of the city streets that they use to get their bearings, driving a toy milk truck (i.e., slot car) in the direction the real vehicle should move.

Slot cars in cinema 2: "Slapshot" (1977)

"Slapshot" is a 1970s comedy about a fictitious field hockey team that resorts to overtly violent strategies on the ice to gain some popularity. Paul Newman played the main character, while the Hanson brothers were there for "comic relief."

The brothers ranged in age from 18 to 20, but they still had a penchant for playing with slot cars. In one scene we see them playing races, although the emphasis seems to be on crashing cars into each other rather than crossing the finish line.

Slot cars in cinema 3: "Pulp Fiction" (1965)

Quentin Tarantino's iconic film is known for its nonlinear narrative, cheeky dialogue and edgy blend of violence and humor. But did you know it also includes slot cars?

In one scene, we see Uma Thurman and John Travolta enter an elegant car-themed restaurant, complete with seating modeled after classic cars and an incredible slot car circuit set up.
